ZSUD – painter of the soul
Zsuzsanna Udvarhelyi, who is more commonly known as ZSUD, is one of our most eminent contemporary painters. Her delicate way of seeing the world is reflected on her canvas. ZSUD’s most reoccurring theme is the mysterious body and face of women, whose portraits are far from realistic. Her style is a combination of symbolism and emotionalism, and as such she also captures the fate of her models in her paintings. She had several Asian tutors during her stay in America, who had greatly influenced her in making her Japan-inspired series. Her newest passion is filmmaking, in which she plays with the endless options of different lighting conditions. ZSUD says she finds this form of art so captivating, because while painting a dream-like world takes several weeks, she can create it in a film in no time.
